Write a Tech Article, Get a One Year Membership Extension
The VTR online Maintenance Handbook continues to be one of the net's most widely referred to set of reference articles for Triumph upkeep and repairs. We need to add more articles to the index and this is a great time of year to put out the call for new content since we've all worked over the summer to get our cars running perfectly. If you've tackled a repair and care to share your experience by writing an article for the VTR website, we'll extend your membership by one year! If you have photos to accompany your article, that's even better! To qualify, you must already be a VTR member and your article must pass muster by the VTR vehicle consultant for your model Triumph. Time to get writing!

So Where Do VTR Members Live?
In trying to determine where VTR's membership is concentrated, The Detroit Triumph Sportscar Club made use of a neat data plotting web site, GPS Visualizer, to produce a graphical map of the United States with member information presented visually. It could be a helpful tool for estimating attendance for the 2008 North American Triumph Challenge (NATC). As for the breakdown: the ten States with the highest number of VTR members are, in order: California (241), Pennsylvania (239), New York (205), Texas (158), Florida (148), Ohio (126), Virginia (124), New Jersey (120), Illinois (120), and Michigan (115). Check out the map.

As mentioned, the DTSC is hosting the 2008 North American Triumph Challenge (formerly known as the VTR Convention). Ypsilanti, Michigan will be invaded with Triumphs August 5th through the 8th of next year. The fun will get started Tuesday night with a performance by the Illinois Sports Owners Association's (ISOA's) own "Spinal Tappets." The featured models will be the TR250 and the 2000 Roadster. Noted automotive author B.S. Levy will give the keynote at the Awards Banquet. And, in what may end up being referred to as "The Ultimate Tech Session," there will be a 48-hour rebuild of a Triumph Spitfire sponsored by the North American Spitfire Squadron! Online registration will begin very soon, watch http://natc2008.com for details.

VTR-Sanctioned 'America's British Reliability Run' Underway
in Two States Next Month, You Can Help a Child
logoIn it's fifth year, America's British Reliability Run is a challenging, but fun, driving event that so far has raised more than $100,000 for worthy children's charities. This year, two separate 800-mile runs on the same weekend, October 6-7, 2007, will benefit two highly-rated charities. The Wisconsin run begins and ends in Janesville and will help Milwaukee-based "The Center for Blind and Visually Impaired Children." The Ohio run, beginning and ending in Massillon, will benefit Columbus-based "Adventures for Wish Kids." Each two-person team pays their own expenses out-of-pocket and has a goal of raising $500 for the charity.

Up to 50 British cars of any marque or vintage may participate in each run. Even if you can't participate in the run, please support this effort by making a donation of any size. Again, teams pay their own expenses, so 100% of your donation goes to the charity, please help us increase our total! To donate, or read more about the run, visit the event web site. (Disclosure: This event is organized by VTR President Blake DIscher who used his influence to get this item published here. "It's for kids!" he admonished.)

Activity on "The Triumph Forum" Increasing Every Day
forumWhat's been happening on The Triumph Forum? There have been questions ranging from cracked TR6 differential mounts to GT6 brake boosters to TR7 tachometers. Comments about the recent VTR Convention in Valley Forge, The Vintage Triumph magazine, and a Herald that won an amphibious vehicle challenge on British TV's Top Gear program. Back in May, VTR announced the launch of a moderated forum. The forum software facilitates posts by members and others in various categories: VTR Convention, VTR Regional News, and last, Maintenance Issues by Triumph model. The forum just registered the 240th member!

The forum, hosted by VTR, but open to all Triumph enthusiasts, provides a place where anyone can post either announcements (with more detail than our Event Calendar allows) or wrap-ups about events in their VTR chapter. It also is a place where each of VTR's Regional Coordinators can post information for their region's chapters. The forum differs from others in that it is moderated, therefore the "signal to noise ratio" (or quality of posts) should be very high. Access the forum by click on the TRIUMPH FORUM link under the RESOURCES tab along the top of the VTR web site's home page.
